HexGL Unblocked

Play HexGL online free — a fast, futuristic anti-gravity racer rendered in real-time 3D with WebGL. Steer through neon tracks, hug the turns, and chase a better lap time. Press play below; no login, no install.

The game loads from the developer's official build. Click inside the frame first, then pick a control scheme on the start screen and race. HexGL is a real-time 3D game — for the smoothest run, use a desktop and open it in fullscreen.

How to play HexGL

HexGL puts you in the cockpit of an anti-gravity ship on a high-speed circuit. The ship keeps moving; your job is to steer cleanly, carry speed through the corners, and avoid scraping the walls, which slows you down. Here are the default keyboard controls — you can also switch to touch or gamepad on the game's start screen.

ActionKeys
Steer left / rightLeft & Right arrows (or A / D)
AccelerateUp arrow (or W)
Brake / slow downDown arrow (or S)
Control schemeChoose keyboard, touch, or gamepad on the start screen

Tip: speed is won in the corners, not the straights. Ease off the accelerator slightly before a tight turn, clip the inside line, and power out — bouncing off the walls costs you far more time than braking early does.

What is HexGL?

HexGL is a futuristic anti-gravity racing game built by Thibaut Despoulain and released as open source under the MIT license. It was created as a showcase of what HTML5 and WebGL can do in the browser, and it still holds up: sleek ships, glowing tracks, and a real sense of speed, all running without a plugin or a download. Think Wipeout or F-Zero, playable in a browser tab.

Because everything renders in real time with WebGL, HexGL feels a lot closer to a console racer than a typical browser game. You lean into banked turns, weave between track walls, and try to shave seconds off your best lap. It is easy to start but rewards practice — learning a track's racing line is what turns a messy run into a fast one.

Since it runs entirely in the browser with no install, HexGL is easy to jump into for a few minutes between classes or tasks — one of the reasons people look for it “unblocked.” It is a genuinely impressive piece of open-source work: quick to load, great to look at, and satisfying to get fast at.

Tips for faster laps

HexGL unblocked: frequently asked questions

Is HexGL really free to play?

Yes. HexGL is a free, open-source game and this site lets you play it in the browser at no cost — no download, no account, and no payment. Press play and the track loads right in your browser.

Why is it called HexGL unblocked?

"Unblocked" just means the game runs on a normal web page that usually is not filtered on school or office networks, so you can play without installing anything. It loads inside your browser like any other website.

Do I need to download or install anything?

No. HexGL runs entirely in the browser using HTML5 and WebGL, so there is nothing to download or install. It works in modern browsers — Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari — on a computer with WebGL enabled.

How do I play HexGL?

You pilot an anti-gravity ship around a futuristic track. Steer with the Left and Right arrow keys (or A and D), accelerate with Up (or W), and slow down with Down (or S). On the game's start screen you can switch between keyboard, touch, and gamepad control schemes. See the controls section below.

What kind of game is HexGL?

HexGL is a fast, futuristic anti-gravity racing game in the spirit of Wipeout and F-Zero, rendered in real-time 3D with WebGL. You race a hovering ship around neon tracks at high speed, hugging turns and chasing the best lap time.

Can I play HexGL on a phone or tablet?

HexGL has a touch control scheme, but it is a demanding real-time 3D game, so it runs best on a desktop or laptop with a dedicated or modern integrated GPU. On lower-powered mobile devices the frame rate may drop.

Does my progress save?

HexGL is a time-trial racer built around beating your best lap, not a long campaign with a save file. Each race starts fresh and the goal is a faster time, so there is nothing to save — just one more lap.
